A gynecologic oncologist is a gynecologist who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of women with cancer of the reproductive organs.
After completing a 4 year residency in obstetrics and gynecology, gynecologic oncologists must complete an additional 3 year fellowship specializing in pre- cancerous and cancerous conditions.
They learn the highest surgical skills levels required to properly stage and remove the majority of the tumor, know as debulking, as well as chemotherapy and radiation therapy techniques.

What is a Genetic Counselor?
Traditionally, a genetic counselor has a masters degree in genetic counseling and has studied genetic diseases and how those diseases run in families.
The genetic counselor can help a person understand their risk and can assess the risk of passing their disease on to children.
They will discuss genetic testing, coordinate testing, and interpret those results.
Genetic counselors work as part of a health care team to help people make informed decisions about their health.
